Incredibly Kind Couple
We went during the off season, so we had to hike down the switch back road to get to the guest house. The host immediately helped us get newspaper into our soaking shoes and got a de-humdifier out and ready to help us dry our gear. Very cozy place to stay at. There is a bath in the guest house, but the host offered to drive us up the road to Hotel Nosegawa to their hot springs and have us notify the reception for them to call her once we were done. Dinner and breakfast were amazing, lunch helped boost morale with another downpour day hiking during a typhoon. The husband offered a rain poncho to my partner as his rain jacket wasn't holding up which help us a lot the rest of the trip. Would go back just to visit the guesthouse and onsen.

Great place to stay in Omata
A perfect first (or last) nights stay whilst hiking the Kumano Kodo Kohechi. Located a 20 minute walk from the trailhead, the place is easy to find by following along the road northwest from Omata. The hosts also kindly offer a shuttle service in the morning back to the trailhead to resume the hike. For those who are looking for an onsen to relax in after the walk, the owners will point you in the direction of a hotel in a local village that provided one and will give you a discount voucher.

A welcome and warm night's stay after a cool and rainy walk.
The owner saw us coming in the distance and stood out on the porch to beckon us over and say hello. We were cold and wet after our walk and she immediately offered to drive us to the nearby onsen. The room was spacious and clean and had a heater and plenty of hanging spaces to dry out our wet stuff. The food was plentiful and tasty and the minshuku catered perfectly for the one of us that is vegetarian. The lunchbox was very tasty as well.

夕食は小鉢2つとイノシシの鍋だった。鍋は野菜も含めてそこそこ量はあったが、目の前の清流を見ていると川魚がないのが残念だった。 小辺路で泊まった3泊の中で最も値段は高かったが食事はもう少し頑張ってもらえるとうれしいと思う。 お部屋、接客、近くの温泉など総合的に考えるととても満足ですがその中で残念だったのが夕食だった。
