One of our most special stays/meals in Japan
Guesthouse Asyl was a truly singular experience. The meal Nakane prepared for us was one of the most memorable that we had in all of Japan. His restaurant is really lovely, and his homemade soba noodles deserving of their local fame! The view from our room was spectacular, and we had the whole guesthouse to ourselves. Because most people try to get all the way to Hongu in one day, Fushiogami (just a few miles short) is quiet and not overrun. We cannot recommend Guesthouse Asyl highly enough!

The best place to embrace the nature and mushroom.
It's a bit surprised for us to arrive there first because there's no one in the house and also couldn't find the house key from outside. Actually the house was not locked and you can find the key inside the room. We really enjoyed the soup soba for the dinner and the breakfast. The sunrise view was stunning when you're on your way to have breakfast.

Guesthouse Asyl was a unique stay in a stunning location, very convenient for our travel plans. We received a warm welcome from the Nakane family and enjoyed eating and chatting with them. We also loved having our own space ater staying in several shared spaces. We walked from Chikatsuyu and were glad to stop here, a few kilometers closer than Hongu. The views were some of the best of our trail, and we enjoyed staying in such a small community. The soba and soup were delicious. The guesthouse was large, and we loved the seating area with a view upstairs. The guesthouse, bathroom and dishes were not as clean as we found in other stays on the trip.

Un accueil chaleureux et très familial
Nous avons été très bien accueillis. Le logement est très spacieux et très bien situé sur la route de kumano Kodo. Nous n' avons manque de rien Le repas préparé par notre hôte était excellent et avec des produits de son exploitation. Nous avons eu la chance de faire la connaissance de sa famille. Encore merci pour cet accueil chaleureux.

Great stop on kumano kodo
Great location, close to fushiogami-oji, making it a perfect stop before hongu, shortening by a few kilometres the hike from chikatsuyu.

Remarkable experience.
Location is peaceful and away from the crowd. Enjoy the silence and the dark skies for the stars if prepared to walk abit further. The food from the land and hospitality of our host who is also our cook is exceptional. The dining experience itself is worth the stay. Five stars.

A truly local experience
The guesthouse is located in a tiny rural village. It was a whole house for just us. The stars were pretty at night. The food was beautifully prepared and seemed to be fresh from the host’s garden and mushroom farm. I highly recommend splitting the long walk to Hongu by staying a night here.
