Description
The Dainichi-goe section of the Kumano Kodo is a short but steep trail that links the Hongu town site with Yunomine Onsen. It is a climb and then descent over a small mountain pass.
This tour can be walked in either direction from Hongu or Yunomine Onsen.
Hongu town site is the home to the World Heritage grand shrine Kumano Hongu Taisha. Yunomine Onsen is one of Japan’s oldest hot springs and directly associated with the Kumano pilgrimage.
The trail features some steep uneven steps, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

Luggage
If you have large baggage there are coin-lockers available at Karasuya near the meeting place in Hongu.There are coin-lockers in Yunomine Onsen at the public bath in the center of town as well.
Lunch
The walk is either before or after lunch. There is no time on this walk to eat lunch.After Tour
There are a few options once the tour is complete.● Stay overnight in nearby Hongu, Yunomine Onsen, or Kawayu Onsen. (recommended)
