The staff where excellent. They were friendly and welcoming and washed some laundry for free. The location had a historic feeling, but it was away from the main temple. The meal were good, although the breakfast was repeated. The shower and toliet were shared, but they were clean. I stubbed my toe in the room because the floor raises just after entrance.

Greatest introduction to the Kumano Kodo
I was a little apprehensive about the stay at first but Michihiro-san was so incredibly helpful, friendly, and accommodating that I don't think I stayed anywhere better for the entirety of my trip.
I would highly recommend, especially for solo travellers.

An Amazing Place
I had an excellent experience staying at Minshuku Takiyoshi during my Kumano Kodo journey. The room was clean, comfortable and relax for a great rest after a whole day of hiking. The food they provided was extremely delicious, fresh and flavorful. The service was very outstanding. The lady was kind, attentive and thoughtful. She also helped me with laundry. I highly recommend this place.

We were looked after so well. Meals were delicious, the location is perfect. The rooms are traditional Japanese style, very comfortable. The hosts went above and beyond to meet our needs, we were so grateful. Please stay here they are the nicest people… oh plus there’s an Onsen in the Minshuku.

Lovely place to stay
A very nice guesthouse in Yunomine Onsen.
Enjoyed using the onsen and the guestrooms were spacious.
Dinner and breakfast were tasty and plentiful and a relaxed experience. The hosts helped us order a lunch box for the next day. We slept well which is the most important thing when getting up to hike again.

You can arrange for luggage forwarding to them but do check with the owner in advance as this is a home-run Minshuku. The Yunomine Onsen town is quite concentrated.Minshuku is around 2 buildings away from bus stop.

An incredible family-owned Ryokan
This place was the coziest and nicest spot to stay for two nights in Yunomine Onsen! The meals were incredible and authentically Japanese style, and we felt no judgement being Americans not very well versed in traditional Japanese food. The onsen was very relaxing, although at one point the bath was empty, and being refilled. I am not sure if this happens regularly and I just chose the wrong time, or if someone had accidentally let the water drain, but regardless, I returned later that night and it was full again. The owners seemed to be a very charming and happy Japanese family, and have a very mellow and peaceful vibe that we enjoyed.

Restful stay in a wonderful setting
After experiencing some snowy and windy weather on our way from Akagi-goe Junction, we were delighted to rest our weary feet and soak in the Onsen at Minshuku Takiyoshi. The dinner was sublime, and the Japanese breakfast was delicious. The ridgeline along from Nabeware was one of my favourite parts of the trail, and we loved staying in the smaller township of Yunamine Onsen. We recommend staying 2 nights here! That way you can really enjoy the hot spring area. The guestroom has a kettle and tea set which was wonderful after being cold during the day. Our hosts were friendly and helpful!

It is a nice place to stay in Yunomine. The rooms and facilities were clean and well managed. Dinner was delicious! I asked for some fresh eggs to be boiled at the onsen. The young lady from the kitchen not only gave me instructions, but also led me to the onsen. I gave her a big hug! How wonderful it is to meet all these nice people while traveling! Thank you!

Delicious dinner and relaxing soak
We ended our trek here and the dinner and soak were just what we needed. Clean, easy to get to, yummy food, and comfortable rooms. We were 4 people in one room which was OK but we probably would have booked two rooms if not family. Would recommend!!

The place is just on the entrance of the village and has its own onsen. Yay! Place is clean and the food is great.
I had to leave early in the morning and did not want to bother the host preparing breakfast earlier than usual. However, the host insisted to prepare sandwich and coffee for me as a quick breakfast in time for the first bus out.

This guesthouse is well located in the quiet, quaint Yunomine Onsen village. The family who run this guesthouse were very kind and welcoming and the onsen was bliss after a wet, cold hike. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Our room was a liitle small but otherwise quite comfortable and we slept well.

Wow, we loved Minshuku Takiyoshi!
Our stay at Minshuku Takiyoshi was so lovely. The place has a nice blend of Western and Japanese. For example, the room felt more like a hotel room versus a home stay. The room locked and there were many rooms, which gave a feeling of anonymity which I sometimes like while traveling. The family who runs the hotel is so kind and friendly. We really loved interacting with them. The food was out of this world, so good! They gave us coffee in the morning, we loved it. The onsen was very relaxing, quiet, nice and hot. We slept great here.

Our dinner and breakfast were both exceptional, they were also kind enough to assist in coming up with a basic lunch pack for us for our next day hiking which we hadn't made prior arrangements for. The hot spring bath was fantastic to lay back in and soak out some of the aches from a few days on the trail to that point. Very quiet, comfortable and spacious room.

We spent 2 nights here at the end of our Kumano Kodo trail. The staff, food, and guesthouse itself is very nice. We especially enjoyed the onsen using the Yunomine spring water. It is worth noting that there are several units in the guesthouse and a shared bathroom. Also there are not many food options in Yunomine onsen (including convenience stores), so it would be best to get all food options taken care of if you do stay here.

Great Minshuku in Yunomine
Run by a really nice family who were very helpful and were kind enough to explain everything in English as our Japanese was very limited . The dinner and breakfast was great with a large selection of Japanese dishes, also the size was perfect for post/pre treking. We were quite nervous as our first Minshuku experience but we really enjoyed staying here thanks to the hosts

This accommodation didn’t live up to my expectations based on other excellent reviews. The people that run it are very nice and helpful but the rooms are basic and the futons quite thin - definitely the least comfortable futons we had on our trek. We (and other guests) couldn’t connect to the wifi the night we stayed. I think it was probably due to congestion on the network but the staff didn’t have any idea of what to do other than to encourage everyone to turn off airplane mode on their phones!
However it was very clean, the onsen was excellent, and the food was good and plentiful.

Lovely Stay
This family-run Minshuku was a great place to stay. Lots of work has been put into what must be a recent renovation, and it didn't disappoint. The onsen were fantastic. Solid baths, nice water, all with a view. All the meals were delicious, complex, inviting, and enjoyable. The service provided from the host is exceptional and kind. I would rather have stayed here for the few days we spent in Yunomine Onsen over Ryokan Adumaya or any other accommodations in the area. Very much an hidden gem amongst the rest.

I didn't have very high expectations of this Minshuku having seen the pictures of the outside but it was delightful. A warm welcome and we really enjoyed our dinner. The place is situated very close to the bus stop and almost opposite the public onsen. We got a personalised post card at breakfast - a lovely touch.

Dinner was delicious, with so many courses and lots of variety. Breakfast was also plentiful and varied. Onsen was a great experience, and we managed to get it by ourselves a few times. We loved our stay at Minshuku Takiyoshi during our Kumano Kodo trek! Traditional minshuku hidden in a modern building

The owner and his family are all so great! He even offered his own washing machine to me without any charge. The place is so quiet and I really had a good sleep. Both the dinner and the breakfast were fantastic! You know they were well prepared by them. It is a wonderful place to stay and the area is worthy visiting! Terrific Two Nights.
We stayed with Minshuku Takiyoshi for two nights while we walked different parts of the Kumano Kodo. Our time there was great- the owners were welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home. After our long days walking in the autumn heat, relaxing and soothing tired legs in the baths was perfect end to our days, and the food we received, both breakfast and dinner was superb. Yunomine is a pretty little village, and Takiyoshi was easy to find. This isn't the cheapest place in town, but it was worth every Yen. Highly recommended.

Onsen galore~
We booked this place as we wanted to rest our tired legs after the Kumano Kodo walk. The location is right opposite Yunomine Onsen and it's super convenient with the busstop literally outside. The whole area is a quaint little onsen town and it's beautiful!
The lodge has 2 separate onsens for males and females and what a way to refresh our body after the long hike! Coupled with that a wonderful dinner and comfortable sleep and we were all ready to go again the next day!

This place was superb. Clean, welcoming, food ample and of excellent quality. The place was obviously recently remodeled. The toilet was a Neorest, the top of the line Toto toilet - the shared bathroom was not a problem at all since the onsen was used for bathing. Doing our own futon bedding not a big deal.

Comfortable minshuku with new facilities
Takiyoshi was a great minshuku (note differences to a ryokan). The meals were excellent, although you can see he had problems trying to vary the menu on the second night. Facilities were very modern, which was a nice surprise.

This is really more like a business hotel. Bare minimums. The futon was incredibly thin, the common bath had the bare necessities and the hot spring bath was so incredibly hot that even an attempt to cool it took so much time that it was in enjoyable. The local area is wonderful and the public hot springs are incredible!

Minshuku Takiyoshi is a very nice place to stay in Yunomine Onsen. It was recently renewed, it has a great onsen, everything is very clean, efficient and well organized, and the location close to the bus stop is pretty convenient. Besides that, the meals they prepared were amazing.
Also, I must say that our staying was incredibly special mostly because of the kindness of our hostess... What a lovely family they are! All of them are very kind, caring and have our respect and admiration, as well as the Obaachan. When we first saw the Obaachan walking fast from the kitchen to the tables, serving the guests, we were completely captivated and felt a sense of reverence for her, she is adorable!
We absolutely enjoyed everything and for that we give our warmest thanks to the Minshuku Takiyoshi´s Family.

アットホームで温かなお宿です
新潟市から初めて熊野へお邪魔しました。
よく下調べもせずに新宮市からバスで熊野本宮大社へ（到着時間14:20頃）
時間があったので熊野本宮を参詣の後、熊野古道 中辺路を伏拝王子(3.2km)まで軽い気持ちで散策したのですが、伏拝王子に到着時には16時過ぎとなってしまいました。
その後、伏拝王子休憩所のトイレを掃除されていたおばさんから声を掛けられ、熊野古道はこの時期17時には暗くなるので急いで戻るように忠告され、慌てて熊野本宮まで戻ったのですが、熊野本宮そばのバスターミナルへ着いた頃には17時30分を回っており、バスもタクシーもなくなっており、またスマホの充電もなくなり途方に暮れておりました。
そんなところ、少し先に交番があったので、スマホを充電させてもらいながら「湯の峰温泉」までのアクセスを尋ねたところ、歩いても１時間以上かかるとのことでどうしようかと途方に暮れておりました。
そんな折、交番の方から予約している「民宿瀧よし」さんへ電話して相談してみたらとアドバイスされ、思い切って電話して状況を説明したところ、迎えに来ていただけることとなり難を逃れることが出来ました。
宿へ到着し、食事の際にも宿の皆さんから色々気遣っていただき、「遠くからいらっしゃたのだから、いっぱい食べて行ってください」と温かい言葉をかけていただきとてもうれしかったです。
食事も美味しかったです。
お風呂も良い温泉でかつ湯量豊富で源泉のおかげで疲れ切った身体が癒されました。
朝食も早朝７時という私のリクエストにも快く応えていただきました。
チェックアウトの際にも若い宿主さんから気さくに温かい声をかけていただき嬉しかったです。
おかげさまで、かけがえのない素晴らしい思い出となりました。

Cozy stay+Local Cusine+Hot Spring=Perfect Getaway
My friend and I had planned this trip for a long time, to explore the part of Japan that are not often seen in publicity books, the sacred and quiet Kumano Kudo. We stayed in this lovely place run by a lovely three-generation family. They received us with comfortness, courtesy, and warmth, and we are very grateful with what they kindly did for both of us. Among all the excitment and happiness we got from this cozy stay, there are several highlights i have to tell everyone of them who intend to come stay in this Minshuku. To start, i have to write down this per request of my companion, a pretty girl, that the grandson of this place is "kansai No. 1 hadnsome /cute”(okay, i agree on this) with absolutely stunning cooking skill(i totally agree on this point) at such a young age. What we had everyday are definitely not the fine dining you had in Tokoyo 3 star restaurants, but the variety and the local ingredient are completely beyond my expectation, you got to taste the the ingredient per se, with his very skill cooking techniques. Well, i have to say the whole family are very nice and cute, and the Nanny will definitely remind you of your own grandma. Second, it is not a crowded place where you can enjoy yourself. we only met one group of people during our stay, and you won't be bothered for sure. The hot spring in the minshuku and outside in the village are worth trying, you wouldn't find a better relaxation, i suppose. Last but not least, if you plan to take a look hiking like us starting and ending in Yunomine Onsen, it would be nice to stay in this village and relax in the hot spring after 20 miles hiking a day. Again, can't believe i forgot to write this comment to mark this memorable trip and stay and say thank you again to our host. Thank you very much! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Friendly service in an old minshuku that would benefit from a renovation of all common areas
We liked our stay at the Takiyoshi. We were served nice meals by a friendly group of old ladies and felt very welcomed. The rooms are adequate, on the small side. The entire place and especially the common areas would benefit from a moderate renovation program: new carpets and new wallpaper would go a long way. The baths were quite nice even though they were not outside. We enjoyed them very much.

Wonderful stay!
Stayed 2 nights during our Kumano Kodo trek in this exceptional family run Minshuku. The hosts were very generous and although didn't speak much english were able to support all of our questions. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet, and the onsen baths were very clean, the morning sun shining into the baths was the best start to every day. The food was exceptional, all made from scratch. We ate a lot of food over our 3 week stay in Japan including other traditional meals at ryokans, and this was the best set meal we had, the meal service also went on for almost an hour with non-stop dishes being served. Overall it is very clean, quiet and comfortable place to rest after a long day on the trails. We can't wait to come back and stay here again, couldn't recommend it more!
