The accommodations in the mountainous areas of the Kumano Kodo were welcoming and very good. The only slight difficulty was during check-in at Hotel Urashima in Kii-Katsuura. If there is a next time, I would prefer to have more Western-style beds, as I am not very accustomed to sleeping on Japanese-style tatami bedding. Self-guided hikers are advised to check the bus schedules and times with the tourist information centre or their accommodation providers so that they can make better arrangements. The overall experience was very enjoyable. Thank you!
