Everything was exceptionally well organized from start to finish. The instructions and itinerary were clear, detailed, and easy to follow, which made navigating the trail completely stress-free. The luggage transfer service was seamless and incredibly convenient, allowing me to fully enjoy the hiking experience without worrying about carrying heavy bags. One of the highlights of the trip was the accommodation. Every host was warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. Each stay felt unique, and I appreciated the care and attention that went into making guests feel comfortable. Their kindness added so much to the overall experience. The Kumano Kodo itself is a beautiful and memorable pilgrimage route, and having such a well-planned package made it easy to immerse myself in the journey. It was well organised although it took the Kumano travel company a long time to get back to me with my initial queries. While we were in Japan there was a typhoon coming past. I would have appreciated some communication from the travel company about the Typhoon. When we were getting our train tickets the people at the train station said we could not go to that area because of the Typhoon coming, the train was likely to be cancelled and the walk would be cancelled to. They told me to get in contact with the Kumano travel company and ask for information. It was Friday 5pm and there was no answer (phone and email ) from the Kumano travel company. After I got in contact with our first accommodation who then contacted Kumano travel they finally sent me an email. In the future if there is a Typhoon (or other nature disasters) near the Kumano Kodo I would appreciate it if the Company can communicate with people what is happening and give some advise on what to do in those situation. We were left in limbo and did not know if it was safe to go to the walk or not. It may be a little samey with lots and lots of forests but that makes it peaceful. It was a good level of exercise. The arrow is wrapped around a circular pole and is difficult to interpret since there is a fork at that point. There isn't the usual 'Kumano Kodo' and 'no kumananokodo' which distinguishes the two possibilities.
