There's ample time allocated to the walking, so I never felt like I had to rush anywhere. The trek was tranquil and quiet, and I got to meet like-minded hikers during the 5-day sojourn. My trip had coincided with the Kumano Hongu Taisha Spring Festival, but unfortunately due to bad weather, the actual procession took place on 16th Apr instead of 15th, which meant that I had to miss out or mess up the itinerary. In hindsight, I wish that I had went for the festival instead as it would have been quite an experience! Overall, the kumano kodo trek was a very positive experience, the only challenges were the limited accommodations, the kumanogawa boat ride availability and luggage forwarding services.
