Great trip
We have fulfilled our pilgrimage along the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route, paying our respects at Kumano Hongū Taisha, Kumano Nachi Taisha, and Kumano Hayatama Taisha. We are deeply grateful for your wonderful hospitality and wonderful meals, which made this journey extraordinarily special. Guesthouse Sora: A highlight in our Kumano Kodo trail experience
Naomi san and Yasu san are perfect hosts at Guesthouse Sora. We were warmly welcomed after walking from Takahara to Chikatsuyu, and given e-bikes to collect our bento lunch that was arranged for us in the village. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The dining experience was relaxed with great conversation and sharing of Naomi and Yasu's experience as pilgrimage hosts. I would highly recommend Guesthouse Sora to Kumano Kodo walkers for an authentic and friendly stay. We departed feeling well taken care of and grateful for such a warm reception and positive experience.

This was one of the most wonderful experiences I had as a guest in Japan! The couple that runs the guesthouse is so kind and warm and really does everything to make you feel welcome in their home. They are also very interested in getting to know you a bit through a shared dinner. And their cooking skills are just outstanding, using among others ingredients from their own garden! I highly recommend everyone on the Kumano Kodo to stay with them!

I really Scored!
These lovely people alone were worth the walk. It was such a pleasure meeting them and getting to hear their stories. Upon arrival Naomi took all my dirty clothes and washed them for me, which was amazing! Meal times were the highlight as they were genuinely interested in who I was and I easily adored them both. It was my favorite stay on the journey!

The best guesthouse I ever stayed at
Close to Chikatsuyu-oji and the bus stop, which was super convenient. The room was spotless and tidy. But honestly, the best part was Naomi-san and her husband. They were so warm and welcoming — seriously, they treated us like family, not just guests. The food was incredible. Like, home-cooked perfection. That night the sky was super clear, and Naomi-san, who’s really into stargazing, took us outside and started pointing out constellations. That’s when I saw it for the first time — the Southern Cross (or whichever cross-shaped one it was). I’m already dreaming about coming back — maybe next time hiking the Kumano Kodo in a different season. And if I do, I’m 100% staying there again.

The warmest welcome and kindest hosts
Absolutely loved our stay here and meeting Naomi and her husband. They were the warmest and loveliest hosts we met. Meeting the other guests was fun! Oh also the meal was the best we had in Japan - still thinking about it! Thank you :))))
