Amazing stay

We loved really everything about our stay at Sora. The hosts were the most kind, the food was delicious and balanced (loved the bento boxes!!) and the rooms were very comfortable. Our favourite stay on the trail - maybe of our whole Japan trip.

Authentic Japanese homestay with wonderful hosts

Naomi-san and Yasuyuki-san were excellent hosts, spoke good English and had so much great local knowledge about the Kumano and life in Japan. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting down to dinner in their home with other pilgrims eating delicious home cooked food. We loved wearing the beautiful yukatas. Staying at Guesthouse Sora was wonderful insight into Japanese culture and life.

Lovely homestay

We had a great stay at the Sora guesthouse. Access is right off the trail. Naomi gave us a summary of our options for the next day’s walk that included walking , bus stops, and even the weather! The food was fantastic and we had good conversation with Naomi and Yasu and the other guests. They even went above and beyond to ship my partner’s forgotten sunglasses to our next hotel. We stayed in the apartment with a private bathroom and small kitchen. Highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful Stay

We loved Guesthouse SORA! Naomi and Yasuyuki welcomed us with open arms. They fed us 3 amazing meals, and we spent a lovely dinner together getting to know one another. The room was spacious and clean, and Naomi was a helpful Kumano guide. We had a really spectacular time, and would whole-heatedly recommend SORA to anyone planning on doing the pilgrimage!
