Excellent stay and hosts
Staying in Chikatsuyu Cherry Garden was a highlight of my trip. The accommodation was very comfortable and you couldn’t ask for a better location as it was right on the trail. The hosts were excellent and very kind. I would stay here again for the hospitality and beautiful dinner. The breakfast (western style) and bento lunch were the best on the trip. Arigato gozaimasu te.

Welcoming and Comfortable Guesthouse
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chikatsuyu Cherry Garden “Sakura-no-Sono”. The guesthouse and food was wonderful and the host were so welcominging. The town of Chikatsuyu is also a great little town to walk. We would reccommend staying here!!

A Hidden Gem After a Long Day on the Trail
Shin's homestay is simply stunning — a beautiful blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and Western décor that looks especially magical in the morning light. The space is spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable, with everything you could need: air conditioning, a washing machine, a massage chair, and full bath amenities. Nothing was missing. But what truly sets this place apart is the food. Shin and his wife prepared three meals that honestly rivaled the dining experience at a full-board onsen ryokan — an impressive feat for a homestay. And beyond the food, they are just genuinely warm, helpful people who make you feel completely at home. After an exhausting day of hiking, walking through the door here felt like pure luxury. Highly recommend.

excellent service and food
Service and food were excellent. The owners were very kind and we were able to check-in at arrival (13.30). I would strongly recommended this accomodation.

Would give 6 stars if we could!
Shin and his wife made us very welcome. The 'Annexe' is actually a stand alone delightful, modern Japanese house. Charmingly decorated, warm and cosy. Shin clearly delights in cooking for guests and his meals were a highlight of our trip. The house is also very easy to find if walking the Kodo from Tenabe.

Amazing hospitality!
This house is one-party per night type of accommodation, so since I was by myself, I had the entire property to myself, truly a luxury! The place is so cozy, filled with memorabilia from the host's travels. They received me so warmly and gave me such good meals (the best bento on all of my kodo days!) They spent so much time calling people to figure out bus schedules for me the next day, truly the best hospitality I've ever experienced.

Magical stay at Cherry Garden
We were warmly welcomed after a long day of hiking from Takijiri, and enjoyed a cold beverage on the roof deck overlooking town while dinner was being prepared. The hosts could not have been nicer, and the location proximate to Chikatsuyu was a bonus. Thank you for having us and we would love to come back again!

The best place to stay
The family is very warmhearted and friendly. The guesthouse is beautfull. We love to stay here again.
