Spacious and Clean
Our stay at Happiness was really lovely. It was so nice having the entire cottage to ourselves so we could really spread out. It was very clean. We enjoyed sitting outside on the small porch overlooking the beautiful garden and playing Reversi/Othello which was in the cottage. We also loved walking ~10 minutes to the Beer Garden across the bridge in town and hanging out outside since we got in early in the afternoon from our shorter hiking day from Takahara. As the other reviews have mentioned, the meals were on the smaller side. The dinner bento was enough food for me personally but it was nothing compared to the multi-course meal we had at our stay in Takahara. Luckily we had read the negative reviews regarding the meal so we knew what to expect. Breakfast was also smaller comparatively but it was enough food - toast, hard boiled egg, yogurt, small salad and potato salad, plus coffee/tea. Lunch was not enough however especially given our longest hike - 22 km - that day.

Happy place to unwind
The annex is fantastic, with beautiful views on the trees and the river. It is equipped with a washing machine and a bath, which makes it a great place to unwind after a day of hiking. Note that some past reviews mention breakfast starts at 7, however when I was there they offered breakfast from 6:15 ! Great if you want to start early from Chikatsuyu as it can be a long day.

Spacious and wonderful accommodation
We were lucky enough to have essentially a full house to ourselves. We had a fully equipped kitchen which we sadly only used to heat up elements of the bento boxes delivered for dinner. The sleeping room and lounge opened out to a lovely garden. The accommodation was just off of the trail. Breakfast was served nearby and was delicious and filling. Highly recommended.

Lovely and quiet.
Nice setting with easy check in, and good facilities. Easy to find off the trail. Evening meal was nice and the morning breakfast was excellent.
