Private Onsens

A short walk from the Yunomine Onsen bus stop, and close to the Akagi-goe trailhead towards Hosshinmon-oji and the Dainichi-goe trailhead to Hongu. The “pods” in the mix dorm were private, quiet, and clean. There was rarely any waiting for washrooms or the three private onsens (two indoor & one outdoor) that are open all day/night and a welcomed soak after a long day of walking. Grab a voucher for their sister establishment, the “You-Got-It” Bar for a delicious dinner steamed over the onsen and craft beer. They also have a selection of food and drinks for sale if you rather make your own meal. There is a large welcoming common room where you can relax and chat with your fellow travellers, and a well stocked kitchen that serves rice porridge with preserved plums and drip coffee in the morning. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The most cost-effective hotel in the hot spring area

There is a quite good hotel in the hot spring area. It has 3 private hot springs and when we arrived there, there weren't many people and we didn't need to wait in line. However, there are just maybe two or three restaurants nearby. Currently, the hotel doesn't offer any dining services. Only a coupon for a restaurant outside is available, which is for steamed dishes.

The private hot spring baths are the best!

I had originally planned on hiking a few extra kilometers on this day because I arrived early in Yunomine Onsen, but after seeing my accommodation, particularly the private hot spring baths, I decided to rest and enjoy my stay early. It was amazing! I'd recommend this accommodation to anyone; and the hosts were fun to talk with.

Comfortable stay

Dorm rooms/bunks were a compact but comfortable size. Everything was nice and clean, and the outdoor onsen was a treat. We didn't really use the kitchen besides making coffee, but it seemed to be well-equipped. Check-in process was nice and easy. Good value for money.

Google translation: It's reasonably priced and well-equipped. If you'd rather not share bathrooms or rooms with others, it's definitely worth considering. The bedrooms are compact but offer ample space for packing your belongings. A small convenience store on-site sells groceries, daily necessities, and various other items. The biggest draw is the mini hot spring in the bathroom. You can enjoy it privately without jostling with others. The only downside is that having a roommate might affect sleep quality. However, the price is extremely reasonable and affordable, making it a unique experience you won't find elsewhere.
