Great guesthouse with Onsen!

Fantastic time in this guesthouse! The location was really good (village is very small) to experience a more local, authentic Japan. Guesthouse was really spacious with big kitchen and common room. Dorms were spacious and clean, kind of giving a « capsule » vibe. Onsen were easy to access as no booking required and there are 3 in total so it’s easy to get access to one. Staff spoke well English & were very friendly.

This hostel has everything dialed in. We stayed here twice: first as we completed the 4-day stretch of the Nakahechi, and then again after taking the traditional boat ride to Shingu and walking the final two day stretch from Nachi Taisha to Hongu Taisha. We slept really well in our private room, enjoyed the common spaces, and the 24 hour onsens were fantastic - especially the outdoor one.

Such a great stay!

We loved our stay at J-Hoppers! We were warmly welcomed upon arriving, and enjoyed the private onsens and tatami room. All of the spaces were very clean, and had everything we needed :)

Brilliant guesthouse

The staff were brilliant, very helpful whenever we needed anything. The room was very comfortable. Lots of facilities to use plus an incredible outdoor onsen.

Private Onsens

A short walk from the Yunomine Onsen bus stop, and close to the Akagi-goe trailhead towards Hosshinmon-oji and the Dainichi-goe trailhead to Hongu. The “pods” in the mix dorm were private, quiet, and clean. There was rarely any waiting for washrooms or the three private onsens (two indoor & one outdoor) that are open all day/night and a welcomed soak after a long day of walking. Grab a voucher for their sister establishment, the “You-Got-It” Bar for a delicious dinner steamed over the onsen and craft beer. They also have a selection of food and drinks for sale if you rather make your own meal. There is a large welcoming common room where you can relax and chat with your fellow travellers, and a well stocked kitchen that serves rice porridge with preserved plums and drip coffee in the morning. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
