What a wonderful experience and hospitality
This was such an amazing part of our Japan trip. Our host was incredibly welcoming and accommodating the entire time. The guest room was perfect and the bath and shower overlooking the river was beautiful. Every single meal was farm to table fresh and delicious. My husband hiked the last leg of the Kumano-Kodo pilgrimage the following morning with a beautiful musical and special send off by our host. I stayed to enjoy the peaceful guesthouse before driving to Nachi Falls (an easy 1 hour drive) to pick up my husband from the hike. We loved everything about our experience here!

Amazing location, food and hospitality
One of the best, if not the best, accommodation experiences I’ve had over 17 years of visiting Japan. Nirav and his wife were so lovely, the food was amazing and the location magical. I definitely hope to visit again!

Rustic perfection in the mountains
Nilab and Asa’s mountainside retreat was truly magic. The setting in the mountains by the rushing river, an outdoor bath to soak away our tired aches and such generous and gracious hosts. All the meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were delightful - Indian curry, Japanese style pizza, fresh vegetables and rice from their farm. Nilab’s ceremonial playing of the conch shell to wish us a safe trip the next day was moving and memorable. We felt deeply privileged to have passed through this special place.

Unforgettabe experience
Incredibly welcoming and warm hosts, amzingly fresh and delicious home-cooked meals, authentic house with relaxing outdoor hottub: we would not hesitate a second to stay here again, and we would advice every hiker to do the same!

The meals provided by the B&B were incredibly hearty and delicious, and the hosts were exceptionally warm and friendly. The hosts were wonderful—they kindly allowed us to check in early and arrange our equipment due to the rainy weather.

Kumaano Farm and Guesthouse
This place was absolutely amazing. A riverside stay, excellent food, warm hosts, and a beautiful location in the misty mountains. I would stay here for a week. The accommodation was rustic, and showering outside among the forest was amazing. The owner and his wife were warm and patient with non Japanese speaking guests. The food was incredible, and the experience was like visiting a family member. Highly recommend, and will stay there again.

Best stay in Japan!
This is such an amazing and special place to stay! A beautiful traditional farm house for yourself, between the Mountains and next to a river, a fairy tale location! You can use the outdoor onsen, as well as the river for a cold plunge, with amazing views. Our hosts were so kind and welcoming and made the best meal with almost everything grown in their own garden and fields. In the morning, our host played us a song on his traditional horn, to wish us safe travels. It was magical! Highly Highly recommend this stay to all Kumano Kodo travellers, one of our highlights of Japan!

Best accommodation of my 3 weeks trip to Japan
Perfect stay with the perfect hosts. The food was absolutely amazing, with almost everything lovingly grown by the hosts themselves. And I can’t forget the incredible homemade plum liqueur! A truly heartwarming stay in the beautiful Kogushi Valley, offering such an immersive and authentic experience. It was the perfect fit for my Kumano Kodo pilgrimage—a place where I could slow down, connect with the surroundings, and experience the warmth and generosity of the local way of life. I’m incredibly grateful for this memorable stay and would happily come back.
