Fantastic guesthouse and host
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kumaano. The hosts were very warm and welcoming, the guesthouse has loads of character and the food was great. We really appreciated the hosts tailoring the food to our preferences. The rural location of the guesthouse is beautiful. The pickup and drop off from Koguchi was smooth and easy.

It’s impossible to be negative
Asa was the funniest and most generous person I met on this trip. Quite literally risking her life to show us how to enter the river, she made a very strong impression. Her food was divine, and her generous portion sizes almost made us all burst by the seams. The rivers thunderous presence quickly lulled me to sleep. The bathing was in a cold mountain river followed by scoops of hot water was far from luxurious but I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way. The generous prayer for our continued journey was unforgettable.

Great hosts!
Asa and her husband welcomed us and treated us super well. They cooked amazing traditional meals with local ingredients. The traditional house on the river is unforgettable and worth the extra distance from the village. Thank you!

The most charming stay
We loved staying with Asa! She and her husband were so kind, funny, and generous. The meals were delicious and made from vegetables picked from their garden. We were sad to leave!

ご飯は自家製のお野菜を使われていて美味しかったです。veganの人もいたのですが満足してました。 はじめて川の流れを聞きながら寝ました。大雲取越へ出発する前にオーナーの激励がありました。是非泊まって頂きたい宿です。

Lovely !
Had a lovely time here since the moment we got picked up and brought to the accommodation ! So kind and accommodating and the dinner was incredible! Couldn’t recommend this place more. So happy to have met such kind people. Definitely went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

We stayed one night after completing the fourth stage of the Nakahechi trek. The accommodations are rustic but we enjoyed them and the sounds of the river. The bath wasn't working while we were there, but the owner took us to the town onsen, which was great. Everything was very comfortable. The food was the best and most memorable of our trip, with much of it from their farm. While this is a little off the Kumano path, it's worth it, and they provide a shuttle to/from the trailhead if needed.

部屋やお風呂については「いい山小屋」として見れば 十分すぎる環境です。 1組限定というのも自分としてはありがたかったです。 料理（お弁当含む）は自家農園の野菜やお米を とてもおいしくいただきました。 出発時のほら貝もとても貴重な経験でした。
