Ryokan Adumaya
Old and traditional style hotel. A 14 dish dinner was served in our room (as well as breakfast). Traditional Onsen - very good experience.

Best Onsen in Japan
We loved the onsens here. Our room had a beautiful sunroom that overlooked the town and the little river running through it. They have both indoor and outdoor baths that are open 24/7. The man’s and women’s baths switch at midnight so that you can experience both sides during your stay. We went to many onsen in Japan and this was by far the nicest one! They had good food if you like fish (very traditional Japanese food with about 9 courses) which we ate in our rooms which was relaxing. We loved staying here.

The perfect Ryukan experience
An unbelievable experience, like stepping into history. The perfect end to 3 days of hiking. The service was so attentive, and the opportunity to eat traditionally was hugely appreciated. The food was so so good - exactly what we wanted.

We stayed one night after completing the third stage of the Nakahechi trek. The accommodations are older but are a good experience if you want a traditional ryokan hotel with onsen. The service was great, and the kaiseki meals were delicious and plentiful. It's also conveniently located right at the bus stop.
