Welcoming Homestay in the countryside

I could not find accommodation directly on my Kumano Kodo trail before the last walk, and found Sansaro Guesthouse. If you are walking to Kumano Nachi Taisha, this will be a bit off trail, but easily reachable in 15 minutes by bus (just beware of the time as there are not that many, but at the right hours). However, if you plan on finishing by boat or bus, then it is very well located. My room was simple but confortable and dinner and breakfast were homemade and very good. The owner also prepared me a bento for my last day walk (just ask the day before) There is a big onsen close by and Sansaro will provide you with a ticket to use it, unfortunately it was closed during my stay. I had to use the owners bathroom which was nice and more than enough nonetheless. The cafe was quite a change from my previous stays and offered a chill atmosphere before coming back to civilisation.

Quirky accommodation; well worth visiting.

This accommodation is easily reached by bus. We appreciated the owner driving us over to the onsen because it was raining although it is, in fact, a short walk. We enjoyed the dinner.

Sansaro is wonderful

I loved my stay at Sansaro. The Guest House is off of the KK Path but most are on this KK Stage and the host came and picked me up so it was no issue whatsoever. The bus stop to the next Trailhead is almost right in front of it as well which made it very convenient! Sansaro offers a free pass to the town's Onsens and they were lovely....spacious and clean. There was even an outdoor pool. The meals were great and very Tasty. The place was cute and I had a wonderful time staying up and talking to the other guests. The host was so nice and even got up extra early to make breakfast for us because we wanted catch the early bus. A great stay! Thanks.

Good Location

Good location which is near the No.24 stamp (38 min by foot). The host provided us paid laundry. Bath is located in the Hot Spring near by which is great after a whole day hiking.

Really nice visit to Sansaro

We had a very nice visit for one night at Ssnsaro. The host was really welcoming and the accommodations were very nice. Plus it's in a really good location for doing kumano kodo visits.

Lovely guest house

We had a very nice stay at the Sansaro Cafe & Guesthouse. Our host was really nice and cooked us an excellent meal. The guesthouse is very comfortable. The accommodations come with dinner and breakfast and you have the option to buy an additional pack lunch which was great since there aren't food options until Nachi. The location is not right in Koguchi which was both good and bad. You have to take a 12 minute bus ride from Noguchi so you need to wait until the 4:10 pm bus to get there but there were a couple of cafes/bars in Koguchi so it was fine. On the plus side, Kanmaru is beautiful, a valley with mountain views, much prettier than Koguchi. There is no bath at the guesthouse so you use the public bath which was very nice with outdoor mountain views. There are early morning buses (7:20 am) so we were on the trail by 7:30 and our host accommodated our early start with an early breakfast. It's definitely a nice option for Koguchi.

Cozy and friendly place, a little out of the way

Friendly host, very tasty food, basic, comfortable room. Comfortable onsen nearby. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the time schedule for the local buses from Koguchi to Kanmaru!
