Staying in traditional style accommodations is one of the joys of travelling in the area, especially in a hot spring village where you can soak in healing mineral waters and dine on fresh local cuisine. There are different sets of rules than at a western style hotel, but with a little bit of preparation and practice it can be a rewarding experience.

Pension Branchee is a house in a residencial area near the south west coast of cape Shiomizaki, the most southern point on the main island of Honshu.  Further up the road is a lighthouse and dramatic rocky coastline.  This laidback, relaxed home makes for a good base to visit the area.  There are three guestrooms and a communal sitting area.  The owners are happy to share information about the area.

Meal plan is only available on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays.

* As of December 2025, Guesthouse Branchee has been renamed "Pension Branchee."
