This bus provides options for those headed northbound (Hongu to Koyasan) on the Kumano Kodo Kohechi route, especially when accommodation in Miura-guchi is unavailable. Miura-guchi is a small settlement with very limited capacity for people to stay overnight. The lodgings fill up quickly, especially in spring and fall. So Totsukawa Village offers a seasonal shuttle bus between Totsukawa Onsen and Miura-guchi for northbound Kohechi hikers. Using this shuttle walkers can spend two nights in Totsukawa Onsen and still do the full Kohechi without staying in Miura-guchi. This is a Morning bus from Totsukawa to Miura-guchi.

Description

This seasonal bus service connects the UNESCO World Heritage sites; Koyasan and Kumano Hongu Taisha area (including Yunomine Onsen, Kawayu Onsen & Watarase Onsen. This bus service also connects JR Kii-Tanabe station and Koyasan.

Ryujin Onsen, one of the Japanese three beautifying hot springs, is located in the middle of the route, a highly recommended place to stay overnight to break the trip into two days.

The road between this hot spring and Koyasan is called the “Koya-Ryujin Skyline”, and runs on the top of the mountain ridges offering spectacular panoramic views.
