Great views and easy access
The information we got both in advance and the information at the bus was good and clear. Easy ride and great views of the mountains! Maby not the most comfortable seats for a long ride, but nice with a stop along the way to stretch your body and take a bathroom break. We enjoyed the ride!

Very easy to ride, nice help from drivers
The drivers were all very kind and help us to find the good bus and change easily between transfer. The booking was very easy. Maybe it should be good to have more space inside the bus. But everything was perfect. Thank you so much!

We had no problems at all with the bus, it arrived on time, the driver had our names written down and we could access it without any issue! Just one note, the bus does 2/3 long stops which in my opinion are not really necessary

Change of Transport to Kumano Kodo Area
We were unable to arrive in Tanabe to meet with the Luggage Transfer pickup time. Mako, from Kumano Travel, was extremely helpful in advising our best way to arrive at Takijiri to complete the walk prior to sunset. We were staying in Koyasan and took the bus to Chikatsuyu. Then Transferred to a local bus which allowed us to arrive at Takijiri and leave our luggage to be collected from the Information Office before setting off on the Trail. All progressed seamlessly. Many thanks! Sharon & James Angove (Sydney, Australia)

Wonderfully organised
I took the access bus from Yunomine Onsen to Koyasan, which means 3 buses back to back. Whilst it might sound dreadful it was actually really nice as everything went smoothly and feels so well managed. The views on the mountains were gorgeous, I didn’t even realised when the 4h weee gone. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful experience
We are grateful to Kumano Travel for organising this wonderful trip. We saw many beautiful and sacred places and enjoyed the extraordinary and kind hospitality of our hosts along the way. The hosts prepared amazing food for us to enjoy and we tried many local dishes we could not otherwise have experienced. The walk itself was a great experience and the small villages so lovely. I could not recommend more highly.

Koyasan to kii tanabe access bus
We had been advised & also read that this bus had no luggage storage so we purchased luggage space. This went much smoother & the drivers were appreciative that they were aware in advance of space. The buses were not full this day but if they were this made it much easier for everyone. Yes it costs slightly more but is putting Yen back into the community

The bus was the only option to join Kumano Kodo from Koyasan, saving hours of train. The ride was beautiful and comfortable. The booking system is really old-fashioned since you can book only one month in advance, and you need to wait for a confirmation of availability before paying and be sure that everything is booked.

Koyasan to Hongu by bus
We took the bus from Koyasan to Hongu in October. It was very well organised with a bus change at Gomadanzan and lunch stop at Kirari Ryujin hotel, where we had a very nice lunch. Bus station personnel and drivers all very cheerful and helpful. The scenery was great with some good views from high up in the mountains. The journey is quite long and the roads are very twisty and a little bumpy so it's not the most comfortable trip but that is more than made up for by the scenery.

Missed the bus because of multiple bus station with the same name
I'm very sad to rate 1/5 this, but the bus I had to take was on daily basis, that means that I could not lose it (or I would lose a day). I arrived at the bus station 20 minutes early, but I still missed the bus, later I realised (because a local told me) that there are 2 bus station WITH THE SAME NAME in the same country. Obviously, not knowing it I choose the wrong one.

Worked
Bus voucher worked great. With the two transfers involved from Koya to Ryujin Onsen, it was very helpful to have the voucher printed out to point to the destination since no one spoke English. Each bus driver had me in their log and made a smooth handoff to the next driver. Recommend! Don’t try this with a large suitcase though! (No place for luggage)

Very peaceful visit
In our trip we spent two nights at Kamigoten in Ryujin Onsen and one night at Rengejoin at Koyasan. Both locations were very traditional and relaxing occasions for us. We did not feel rushed during our stay and were able to enjoy our the peace and beauty of the envirnment fully. It was a great interlude between our two city stays before and after our time in Tanabe.

The Koyasan to Kii-Tanabe Access Bus: Not perfect, but very convenient
The Access Bus from Koyasan to Kii-Tanabe is a great alternative to the train from Osaka, in that you see beautiful, breathtaking scenery as you travel directly through the mountains. And the bus is on time -- like all Japanese transport -- and gets you to your destination. However, the quality of the trip is mixed. We were asked to changes vehicles twice and were generally confused as to why and whether we were being shuttled to the right place. But we just kept saying "Kii-Tanabe" to the various drivers and it all worked out. The second bus was very tight and uncomfortable, the first was ok, and the third was a minivan for just five of us. We'd expected a single coach bus, like the one we'd taken from Kyoto to Koyasan, with better seats and luggage space, but in the end this was fine.

Koyasan & Kumano Access Bus
The Kumano Travel Reservation Site that I used to book my Koyasan & Kumano Access Bus from Kawayu Onsen to Koyasan was very easy to use. There are not direct buses from Kumano Kodo to Koyasan and it is necessary to change buses at Nakahechi Bijutsukan and Gomadanzan. Transfers were straightforward and easier than I thought. Bus drivers were very kind, very professional, and very helpful. More bus connections from Kumano Kodo to Koyasan per day and on-board luggage spaces would be very helpful. I will use this service again when visiting the area in the future.

feedback
the bus was not the most comfortable but the driver and the convenience was great. The rest stops were very good and it was nice to be able to stop for lunch in a good but affordable restaurant. The main suggestion I have is to make the stop in Koyasan more clear. It was hard to be sure which bus to take and if we were at the correct stop. The bus should have a bigger sign on it so we know that it is the bus we are looking for. And the bust stop should have a sign with the name of the bus and destinations.

Great local buss for connecting koyasan to hongu taisha
Departing 1 time a day from kyosan (centre of Kyosan, busstop on the tourist information side), it was a very smooth ride (actually two busses with easy transfer pointed out by the bus driver) and a lunch stop (food excluded). We arrived about 30 minutes earlier than expected. Nice views on the way. Its a local bus so dont expect special suitecase space or extra comfortable seats. But it fitted perfectly with only a hand full of travelers in june. Easy to book online and just show the driver your booking details.

Trials and errors
We wait for the bus at yunamine bus stop for more than 30 minutes but bus didn’t arrive. Fortunately there was another traveller (a japanese girl) with us that call the Travel agency that sent a taxi and bring us to our bus up to montain. The bus made a mistake and didn’t come to pick us up at our bus stop. At the end the problem has been resolved very well and we are satisfied about the solution they organized for us.

The trip was well organised! We had to change few busses and the time for the change was short. There was always next bus driver waiting with the list of travellers and checking everyone gets in the bus. That was amazing to feel somebody look after you all the way to get you to your destination. And the views from bus was just incredible wonderful with the colorful mountains and small villages.

Direct connection between Koyasan and Tanabe City
This bus was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to start my pilgrimage from Koyasan (Choishi-michi) and then go to Kii-Tanabe/ Takijiri-oji to start the nakahechi route. This bus connects two major pilgirmage locations and was a really easy way for me to travel between koyasan and Kii-Tanabe Station. Also the bus divers were fully informed and made sure that the required bus transfers are successful.
