The Kumano Kodo lunch box is a traditional hand-made Japanese-style "bento" lunch box produced by Minshuku Omuraya in Kawayu Onsen. 

It contains onigiri rice balls, including mehari-zushi (rice wrapped in a pickled mustard leaf, a local specialty).  It also features seasonal side dishes, such as mushrooms, bamboo shoots, etc. 

The Kumano Kodo lunch box is perfect for a walk in the mountains along the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes.  It can be delivered to accommodations in the Hongu area (Yunomine Onsen, Watarase Onsen, Kawayu Onsen, Ukegawa & Hongu village) in the morning.

This lunch box can be delivered at 7:30 to accommodations in the Hongu area (Kawayu Onsen, Yunomine Onsen, Watarase Onsen, Hongu village) booked ONLY via the KUMANO TRAVEL Community Reservation System in order to prevent problems..

Ajizanmai is a restaurant specializing in Japanese style take-away lunches.  It is located on the main road three minutes walk from the JR Kii-Tanabe Station, close to the Tokei-jinja Shrine.  It was founded in 1989 with the philosophy of providing meals from the perspective of the customer.  Their slogan "Delicious and Safe Cuisine", has guided them throughout the many years of serving the community.  Ajizanmai is an excellent option for those looking for a good tasting and convenient lunch.  For those walking on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route you can pick it up before taking the bus to the trail.  A walk through town and lunch on the beach is also popular.

BOND is a cozy bento shop located near the Kumano Kodo Kogumotori-goe trailhead in Ukegawa. It is run by a passionate owner who relocated from Suzuka, Mie Prefecture and is dedicated to creating handcrafted bentos using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced locally. The name "BOND" symbolizes the connection between people, nature, and communities. There are options for vegetarian or specific dietary requirements. Guests can either pick up their bento at the shop or have it delivered to their accommodation within the Hongu area. Hamano is a bento lunch box shop with a history of using local and domestic ingredients.  Its main focus is on the seafood that is caught on the rich coastline and makes for a great Kumano Kodo pilgrimage bento!

Hamano is located less than a minute's walk from the Kii-Tanabe station. Pick-up from the shop is available from 8:30 in the morning.
