Visit key sites of the Kumano Kodo in a private car with a local professional guide for an efficient overview of the area.
Your guide will pick guests up from Kii-Tanabe Station and visit selected sites on the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route eventually delivering them to their Hongu area accommodation. Tour stops include visiting a recently added shrine to the UNESCO World Heritage listing Yagami Oji, getting an overview of the Kumano Kodo at the KUMANO KODO KAN Pilgrimage Center, visiting the prestigious Takijiri-oji shrine -- Gateway to the Kumano and one of the five most important Oji shrines, exploring Tsugizakura-oji with its majestic 800-year-old cedar trees, and finally stopping in Yunomine Onsen said to be the oldest onsen hot spring in Japan and where the legend of Oguri's revival from a hungry demon remains.
This tour is especially recommended for those who wish to get an overview of the Kumano Kodo before walking the route. We can also explain how to use the local buses and the highlights of the route from the following day onward.
