Hikyaku Maruo is a luggage shuttle service, who specialize on supporting pilgrims and trekkers on the World Heritage Kumano Kodo pilgrimage Nakahechi route. 

The smiley Mr. Ono is always happy to help visitors. Chikatsuyu village is his home town. He wants guests to be able to fully enjoy the area, without worrying about their luggage. 

Hikyaku Maruo offers pick-up and delivery to accommodations, with the exception of the convenient pick-up option at the JR Kii-Tanabe station.  Please have a pleasant trip!

The Kumano Kodo lunch box is a traditional hand-made Japanese-style "bento" lunch box produced by Minshuku Omuraya in Kawayu Onsen. 

It contains onigiri rice balls, including mehari-zushi (rice wrapped in a pickled mustard leaf, a local specialty).  It also features seasonal side dishes, such as mushrooms, bamboo shoots, etc. 

The Kumano Kodo lunch box is perfect for a walk in the mountains along the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes.  It can be delivered to accommodations in the Hongu area (Yunomine Onsen, Watarase Onsen, Kawayu Onsen, Ukegawa & Hongu village) in the morning.

This lunch box can be delivered at 7:30 to accommodations in the Hongu area (Kawayu Onsen, Yunomine Onsen, Watarase Onsen, Hongu village) booked ONLY via the KUMANO TRAVEL Community Reservation System in order to prevent problems..

※ At times, delivery is unavailable, in this case we ask that you pick up your lunch box at Minshuku Omuraya in Kawayu Onsen.

Torii-no-Mise is a luggage shuttle service, luggage storage, and shop, which specializes in supporting pilgrims and trekkers on the World Heritage Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route. 

The shop is run by the friendly and knowledgable Mr. Torii is passionate about helping visitors to fully enjoy the area.

Looking to lighten your load?  Why not take advantage of the Kodo-no-Mori Luggage Shuttle service.  This service is run by Mr. Tsuyoshi Kida, out of the Kodo-no-Mori "Anchan" shop next to Takijiri-oji.  They offer reasonable priced luggage shuttles along the Nakahechi section of the UNESCO World Heritage Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes.  The shop itself also stocks some local souvenirs, and snacks.

Online booking for the luggage shuttle services is only available if "all accommodations (pick-up/drop-off) are booked via Kumano Travel". 

 The Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau is a tiny office with a huge mission—to develop and promote Japan’s remote spiritual heartland, into a quality, sustainable tourism destination open to the world. In 2004 this region was registered as UNESCO World Heritage and in 2005 a major political merger of 4 rural communities and Tanabe City took place.  These dramatic changes required a new and innovative approach to tourism development.  Tanabe City decided to create a new office with a mandate to oversee the city and region in totality; a half-public, half-private entity called the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau—the first of its kind in Japan.

This seasonal bus service connects the UNESCO World Heritage sites; Koyasan and Kumano Hongu Taisha area (including Yunomine Onsen, Kawayu Onsen & Watarase Onsen.  This bus service also connects JR Kii-Tanabe station and Koyasan. 

Ryujin Onsen, one of the Japanese three beautifying hot springs, is located in the middle of the route, a highly recommended place to stay overnight to break the trip into two days. 

The road between this hot spring and Koyasan is called the “Koya-Ryujin Skyline”, and runs on the top of the mountain ridges offering spectacular panoramic views.

Let us shuttle your bags between accommodations so that you can fully enjoy hiking on the UNESCO World Heritage Kumano Kodo Kohechi route between Koyasan and Kumano Hongu Taisha!   Taking the weight off your back makes for less stressful journey.

This isolated pilgrimage trail through the heart of the rugged Kii mountain range is a challenging trek, only for the well prepared and experienced walker.  Please do not attempt if you are inexperience or not in good physical condition.

The Kohechi luggage shuttle service is operated by Sanko Taxi located in Totsukawa Onsen who have partnered with the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau (KUMANO TRAVEL) to create this special service to support trekkers on the Kumano Kodo Kohechi.

Due to weather conditions, we are unable to accept reservations for daily luggage shuttle from/ to Omata area from March 1st to March 31st.
