Maru House is a Japanese home in a quiet residential neighborhood within 10 minute walk from the JR Kii-Katsuura train station. There are two guestrooms (one on the first floor and one on the second floor). There is a communal kitchen, dining room and Japanese style living room common area to relax. The young manager is very interested to talk and learn from guests, it was his dream to open a guesthouse in his hometown to host people from around the world. Nobody lives in the house full-time, but rather designed as a small home-style guesthouse.

Oyado Hana Guesthouse is an older building lovely transformed into a comfortable guesthouse by the young Ms. Saho Hanai. The name of the guesthouse comes from her nickname "Hana-chan" when she was living in Osaka. "Oyado" means "lodging" in Japanese. This cute accommodation is carefully decorated with pieces of art collected by the owner and received as presents from guests (including modern art bamboo installations!). The entrance is tucked away off of the street in a Japanese garden, with a large wooden sign above the door inscribed with the Japanese characters of the inn. It is located conveniently near the Kii-Katsuura station, in close proximity to a variety of restaurant choices. Ms. Saho Hanai loves travelling and wishes that her guests feel like Oyado Hana Guesthouse is their cozy home away from home!

Minshuku Wakatake is a friendly, family-run hot spring guesthouse just across the footbridge behind Kii-Katsuura station. Katsuura is a fishing port village famous for its tuna. Minshuku Wakatake takes full advantage of this location next to the sea by serving fresh and delicious seafood all year round. They are especially proud of their grilled tuna cheek or collar, a local delicacy, and are highly rated on various review sites. If you are a connoisseur of Japanese sake, make sure to sample their extensive collection of local brew with the master willing to explain each bottle.

There is also a public restaurant on the first floor with Kumano-themed ingredients!

Meals are available at the cafe-restaurant "Kumano No Mezame" attached to the inn (for an additional charge).

Hotel Charmant is a small hotel very close to the JR Kii-Katsuura Station. It has well maintained rooms and is a convenient base for visiting the area and for those beginning/ending a multi-day walk on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route to/from Hongu. There are no evening meals so guests can explore the small restaurants which are famous for their fresh seafood close by. The friendly owners do not speak any English, but are very hospitable to international visitors.

Minamino Fields Fudozaka is a tiny wooden cottage in the upper reaches of Irokawa settlement about 25 minutes drive inland from Kii-Katsuura station. There are terraced fields below and a magnificent panoramic view of waves of mountains with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. Mr. Ura, the owner, is a retired civil servant and uses this cottage as a base for his organic blueberry jam business. The cottage has a main room (with irori hearth), one bed room, a small wooden bath, western toilet, and large balcony. Mr. Ura would like to welcome international visitors to experience this special place in Kumano.
