Review: Very nice Minshuku
The hosts were really nice and helpful. We had asked the bus driver about the momofuku and were therefore able to find it, but maybe it would be good to provide a map of Koguchi (if there isn't one yet). We couldn't find a Koguchi town map which indicated the minshuku's location on this website. Great stay anyway! Great food too ~

Nothing but praise for this man. I probably had the best meal of my entire holiday here. The owner offered to wash our clothes at no expense. I will remember this one.

Pros: Hosts with character and excellent (and copious) food.
Cons: Atmosphere not as relaxed as some minshuku.

Review: A minshuku with great character
Mr and Mrs Nakazama were great hosts, so friendly with a great sense of fun, I immediately felt like part of the family. The meals were superb and the rooms faultless. What Mr Nakazama doesn't know about Kumano Kodo isn't worth knowing. He used to be a river guide and a walking guide.

This was probably our favorite stay on the whole Kumano-kodo. The retired couple offering their rooms to wanderers were warm-hearted, lovely, funny. The food, which may have been arranged on even nicer plates and decors elsewhere, was without doubt the most delicious we got on our twelve-day trip.
As we were the only patrons that night, we had an extra room, which made for a private tea room, to ourselves - but each of the rooms would have been quite spacious.
You share the hosts' private bath, but everything is very well organized, and the water was nowhere hotter than here!
You can't see the house from the hiking trail itself, but we were greeted by our host at the closest intersection before we could even start searching. Also, Koguchi is so small that people will most likely be able to direct you.
P.s.: Mr & Mrs Nakazawa - you gave my dad a bamboo trumpet (like a didgeridoo) after he managed to get a tone out of it. To be honest, I did not really understand your warning: whether wild animals will come when we play it in the forest - or wild animals would run away. Anyways, we started playing it very deep into the forest, and a minute later we ran into some very, very beautiful deer (日本鹿), mother and child, which were not at all afraid of us. So thank you for that great gift!

Review: Incredible dinner
Chieko and Hide were wonderful and hospitable.
Dinner was a highlight. Each of the many dishes were beautifully presented and decorated with little leaves and flowers from the garden. The front garden was full of beautifully planted and clipped bushes, and orchids. Breakfast was great as was the bento box.
Hide spoke good English which made the experience of staying with them all the more enjoyable. He treated us to a most wonderful song of walking the trail...great voice. Chieko smiled lots, hugged me lots and made me hugely welcomed. What an extraordinary place. Thank you...please translate for them.

Review: Minshuku Momofuku fabulous
This guest house was awesome. The hosts Hide and his wife were so friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were lovely traditional style. They had some delicious rice cakes and tea waiting for us, and kimonos to lounge it. It was so relaxing and friendly. The food was also very delicious.
