Review: Comfort Plus!
This was my favourite place to stay on the kumano kodo. The minshuku was right on the trail and the hosts were nothing short of fabulous. The husband could speak great English and his blue haired wife cooked to best dinner and breakfast I had on the trail. The room was large and spacious and as a tall person, this was the first time I stayed in a Japanese style room where the futon was long enough. They also provided a western pillow which added to the comfort. The bathroom was small, but this hardly mattered when everything else was so fabulous.

Review: Nice minshuku, friendly owners and great food
The minshuku is simple and located near the bridge in Koguchi. The owners are a very friendly old couple, and the husband speaks good English. I had a very nice and large room, japanese style, and had a good sleep before another day of hike. There is a simple bathtub in the bathroom, which is pleasant to relax in the evening. I also had there one of my best diners in Japan, all the food was freshly cooked by the lady, all is homemade food and extremely tasty. There is a lot of variety, also fish and vegetables and so much to eat that it is hard to finish even after 7 hours of hiking... Really excellent!

Review: Authenic and spacious accommodation in Koguchi
After completing our fourth day from Ukegawa, this minshuku was magical. Our room was enormous with a sitting area as well as bedroom and luggage area. The bathroom was simple yet adequate. I loved the bonsais in the front entrance. Our hosts provided fantastic kansei for dinner and breakfast leaving us full and ready to face the final day of walking.

Review: Hikers' Heaven
It took us nine hours to hike from Nachi no Taki (Nachi Fall) to Koguchi. So we arrived Koguchi exhaused and later than expected. At the exit point, the owner's wife, Mrs. Nakazawa, was waiting for us with a great smile. What a relief to see her as the village was much larger than we had expected and we were not sure how to find Momofuku.
Mr. Nakazawa welcomed us joyfully (as we had not been lost!) and suggested taking a bath before dinner. What a great idea! Bathroom was simple but well equipped and the deep tub was soothing and relaxing.
As reviewed by many, the dinner and breakfast were both outstanding. Unlike large inns/ryokans, the dishes were local, fresh and presented with Mr. Nakazawa's personal touch. Bedding was very comfortable. Upon leaving, Mr. Nakazawa directed us to the right path to Kumano Hongu so that we might enjoy the best views and Mrs. Nakazawa took us to the bridge and waved until we were safely on our way. At their small minshuku, we experienced the local tradition of great Kumano Kodo hospitality.

Review: Lovely family run minshuku
We arrived after walking in pouring rain. A great hot soak and a huge room awaited us. Excellent facilities with room to dry we walking gear. Dinner simply superb in choice, local produce and size! A great big breakfast awaited us the next morning and the large and interesting lunchbox was very welcome on the next day which was the hardest on the walk. A retired couple run this and are simply delightful hosts.

Review: minshuku momofuku
Wonderful host family that made incredible meals for us. We stayed in two spare bedrooms and they were very generously sized. The bath wasn't a hot spring based one but was fantastic anyway.
