Nakahechi
Takijiri

Kodo-no-Mori is a lodging next to Takijiri-oji, the spiritual entrance to the sacred Kumano mountains and popular trailhead for multi-day treks on the Kumano Kodo.

The guestrooms are simple Japanese style, where futons are laid onto the floor for sleeping.  The kitchen, bath and washing area are communal. There is an atmosphere of home-sharing as the owner (and cat) lives onsite.

There is a shop built into the house which is run by the same owner.  The shop sells souvenirs including a selection of local sake and beer.

Homemade meals are served in the shop.

This accommodation also offers luggage shuttle services.
Please apply when walking Kumano Kodo.

※ Note for cat allergies: There is a cat in residence in the building.

Takijiri
Guest House Kiyohime is a two-story house in the small settlement of Manago, ~2 km south of Takijiri-oji (~20 min walk) just off, or uphill, from route 311.   This apartment-style accommodation has two private rental units: one on the first floor (Kiyohime 1) and one on the second floor (Kiyohime 2).  Both are equipped with ensuite toilet, bath, washing machine and kitchen.  Each suite has two bedrooms and basically decorated.

Supper is a bento box delivered to the accommodation in the evening.

This guest house was renovated to host walkers along the Kumano Kodo by the owner who frequently travels the world with his job as a dog breeder.  He noticed more and more international pilgrims and wanted to extend his hospitality to those who visit the area.
